Devlog 6: Night City
I wanted to share an early look at a new city track I've started working on in Max Attack. This one has been really fun to make and a good challenge to balance out appropriate light levels and where to concentrate detail and color. There's a noticeable difference in brightness and visibility when you play the game full screen versus viewing it on a website, but I'm happy with how it looks in game. This track also does a better job showing off the sky blended fog I mentioned in previous posts.
I just started adding little pockets of life in the sprawling metropolis below, but overall the main city is going to stay relatively dark with bits of detail to catch your eye and maintain scale. You'll notice scale being a reoccurring theme in a lot of the tracks going forward.
Turns out this is a pretty fun track to race on too, the double jumps split up the track in an interesting way and the back side has some tough angles to negotiate. If you watch the video, you can see me flub them pretty hard on the 2nd lap, but figure it out on the third.

Anymore progress on this, or is it currently on hiatus?
ya, this is currently on pause while I'm working on Sunday Rivals. It's definitely a game I want to return to in the future, just need to figure out a design for it that I can actually complete :)
Nice, looking forward to the release so I can record it to YouTube. Also hope you are enjoying the process of making this 26k!

I won't do it for records, I'll just do it to help your game, sound good? Anyway I'm glad your enjoying it because I really think you have a good game here. If I had unity and a computer with more than 2GB of RAM and 32GB of space (It is an Acer Cloudbook), and if I knew how to write better code (<- I didn't know how to word that) I would ask if you wanted my help. Then again, based on your progress it doesn't really seem like you need help, just time, time to work on the game, time to talk to the people that like it (like me), and time to test it. Anyway I'm gonna stop my long speech and finally post this reply. (Also sorry if it doesn't make since, nothing in my brain does (:p) )
Sounds good! I get where you're coming from and appreciate that you're looking forward to my game, it means the world to me.
In terms of the computer and learning to code, maybe take a look at a less demanding dev environment, something like PICO 8? Best thing you can do, regardless of skill, is to just dig in and try making things. Limitations usually make for more creative results anyway!
